Building Sustainable Peace: From Practice to Law de lege ferenda - A Legal Assessment of the Concept "Post-Conflict Peacebuilding"

Peacebuilding is considered to be a “legal limbo” in the contemporary legal science. As peacebuilding efforts vary according to the particular needs of the countries emerging from conflict, international law is challenged to adopt common rules and principles which can guide suchlike processes. This research seeks to identify common standards in the peacebuilding practices and policies of international organizations and assess whether these commonalities can be considered as part of the international customary law. Hence, this assessment aims to explore the legal dimension of peacebuilding and thereby provide a humble contribution to defining the possible content of the modern post-conflict law.
