News: Summer school with pupils in Bochum

Before the start of the school summer holidays the IEE offered again a summer school for pupils in Bochum.

On the 1st and 2nd of July 2014 pupils of the 10th class of the Graf Engelbert Gymnasium in Bochum visited the IEE to learn about development research.Sommerakad spiel neu

On the first day, after a short introduction into the work of the IEE by Britta Niklas, PhD student Jasmin Gerau gave interesting insights into prevalent water conflicts in the Middle East.
The first day was concluded with a talk with Stefan Buchholz who introduced the students to current developments in South Africa, such as changes after soccer World Cup, HIV/Aids, and elections (see picture below).

On the second day, Dr. Meik Nowak gave an introduction to the topic of "Conflicts, Crisis, Natural Disasters", whereas Dr. Sami Noor together with Kushal Ahmadzai (lecturer from Afghanistan) discussed current developments in Afghanistan after having watched a movie on "International Terrorism - The Taliban" together with the pupils.
