SA-GER CDR: New Scholarship Holders Selected at the South African-German Centre for Development Research

Six new scholarship holders are about to start their studies in January 2016 at the SA-GER CDR.

After having received 478 applications for a scholarship at the SA-GER CDR, the team being responsible for ranking the applications (Stefan Buchholz, Grace Nkomo, and Ina Conradie) had a lot of work to do - and did a tremendous job, so that the selection committee finally was able to select 4 Masters students (out of 286 applicants) and 2 PhD students (out of 192 applicants) for a Centre scholarship, beginning in January 2016.
Evans Sakyi Boadu (Ghana) was selected for the Master in Public Administration, and Metron Ziga (Zimbabwe), Phoene Oware (Kenya), and Dorcas Okyere (Ghana) were selected for the Master in Development Studies. Each of them will receive a Centre Scholarship for 2 years.
Jeremy Waiswa (Uganda) and Samuel Kapingidza (Zimbabwe) will receive a scholarship for their PhD studies in International Development Studies and will be scholars at the Centre for 3 years.
A more personal introduction to the new scholarship holders will follow in the next newsletter.
