EUSA_ID: 3rd Cohort Started

EUSA_ID Programme Coordinator Britta Niklas gives an update on the 3rd cohort of the Mobility Programme, including the opening of the 3rd call for applications.

EUSA_ID is a Mobility Programme offering study, training, and research periods in Europe for South African Master and PhD candidates and staff. Moreover, it and provides European PhD candidates the opportunity to spend a research period in South Africa.
The partnership is coordinated by the IEE/RUB with the University of the Western Cape (UWC) being the co-coordinator on the South African side. In total, the consortium consists of 6 South African and 8 European Higher Education Institutions, which share expertise in complementary thematic fields related to Development Studies, forming a common thematic umbrella. It is supported by 3 associated partners.
The 3rd cohort of students and staff has been split into 3 waves. Within the 1st and 2nd wave, 31 applicants were selected for a scholarship:
• 18 South African Masters students were selected for a study period or full degree mobility at one of the 8 European partner universities,
• 3 South African PhD students were selected for a research period at one of the 8 European partner universities,
• 4 European PhD applicants were selected for a research period at one of the 6 South African partner universities, and
• 6 staff applicants were selected for a training and research period at one of the European partner universities.

3rd Call for Scholarship applications

For the 3rd Wave of the 3rd Cohort, South African Master and PhD candidates and staff are again invited to apply for a mobility period at one of the European EUSA_ID partner universities, while European PhD candidates are invited to apply for a mobility period at one of the South African partner universities.
