IEE Hosts Alumni Conference

"Evaluation of Development Interventions
- Current Debates, Methods, and Best Practices -"

As a central part of its alumni activities, the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy (IEE; Ruhr-University Bochum) regularly organises alumni conferences in close collaboration with its partner master programmes. Against this background, the IEE hosts a conference from the 5th-8th of November 2019, titled “Evaluation of Development Interventions - Current Debates, Methods, and Best Practices” in Bochum. The conference partners are the MA programme in Development Management (MADM; IEE), the MA programme in International and Development Economics (MIDE; HTW Berlin), the Small Enterprise Promotion and Training Programme (SEPT; University of Leipzig), the MA programme in Development and Governance (Institute of Political Science (IfP); University of Duisburg-Essen), and the MA programme in International Relations and Development Policy (Institute for Development and Peace (INEF); University of Duisburg-Essen).

MADM student wins MAXQDA Research Grant

2019 07 VanAalstLisa van Aalst, student of the Bochum Programme of Development Management in Cape Town, successfully won the MAXQDA Research Grant for her field research period in India. She will perform her field research for her master thesis research project titled "Collective Action and Access to Justice – A case study of Dalit Women Collectives in rural Uttar Pradesh, India". New Members for the MADM Alumni Family

Finally, it is done! We are happy to welcome new graduates to the alumni network of the IEE. 7 candidates from the Cape Town group of the MA in Development Management (MADM) programme obtained their Master degree. They received their graduation certificates at the 2nd of December after they had successfully defended their master thesis on interesting topics like Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), HIV prevention programmes, and microfinance (just to name some of them).

2017 11 BenitaRoseSince September 2017, Ruhr-University Bochum has a new EU Careers Student Ambassador!

Benita Rose studies Development Management (M.A.) at the IEE, and is now for one year the local contact person for RUB-students of all disciplines, who are interested in a traineeship or career path with the European Union. Her tasks as EU Careers Student Ambassador include informing students about the application process to get into the EU (the so-called “Concours”), and to inform students of different study areas about possibilities and professional fields within the EU institutions.

MADM Student Speaks at Global Citizen Event in Hamburg prior G20 Summit

Brenda Mbaja Lubang'aBrenda Mbaja Lubang’a from Kenya, student of the MA in Development Management programme, spoke at the Global Citizen Festival which took place in Hamburg at the 6th of July 2017 prior the G20-summit. International music stars, politicians, and representatives of development NGOs shared the stage for celebrating together with more than 11,000 visitors the commitment of more than $700 mio. for achieving the Sustainable Development goals. Workshop on "Reintegration into Domestic Job Markets – Vietnam"

On September 9th and 10th 2016, the third workshop on "Reintegration into Domestic Job Markets – Vietnam" was held at the Vietnamese-German Center at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Hanoi.

The event was organized and facilitated by a team from the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy.
