The Institute of Development Research and Development Policy and in particular Research Cluster 2 successfully registered to take part in the Habitat III preparatory process of UN Habitat. On behalf of Research Cluster 2, which has a thematic focus on Housing and Urbanization, Mariana Vilmondes and Raffael Beier attended the second session of the Preparatory Committee for Habitat III in Nairobi in April 2015.

The Habitat III process discusses the importance of a global New Urban Agenda in the context of the Post-2015 debate. The third and last session of the Preparatory Committee will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, in July 2016. The main conference will be held in Quito, Ecuador, in October 2016.
