Approval of Funding for German-Arab Joint Research, Training and Networking Programme

The project proposal "From Responsibility to Protect to Responsibility to Assist: Conflict, Reconstruction and Sustainable Development in the Middle East" has been approved for funding by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

As part of the DAAD Programme “Higher Education Dialogue with the Muslim World”, the German-Arab Joint Research, Training and Networking Programme primarily aims at fostering inter-cultural dialogue via joint supervision of selected PhD candidates, research, training and networking. Partners of our new project include the University of Jordan, Amman, the Lebanese-American University, Beirut and the Carnegie Middle Easter Center, Beirut.

For the IEE, Wilhelm Löwenstein, Eva Gerharz, and Helmut Karl are involved and cooperate with Hans-Joachim Heintze from the IFHV in addition to the IEE’s partners in the UA-Ruhr Graduate Centre for Development Studies, Christof Hartmann (IfP) and Tobias Debiel (INEF), University Duisburg-Essen. The project is directed by Anja Zorob, coordinator of the PhD Programme in International Development Studies at the IEE.
