María Moraga Fernández, M.A.

Short Profile

María holds a Master’s degree in Economic Development and Growth from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Lund University. She previously worked for institutions like BBVA Research and the Bank of Spain in topics related to the Spanish pension system, education and labour market. Her research on "Labour regulation and economic performance in Sub-Saharan Africa" is part of the European Joint Doctorate ADAPTED which is funded from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 956909 and coordinated by the IEE. Her thesis focuses on minimum wages and social protection and their impact on both firms and individuals, particularly in South Africa and Ethiopia. She is jointly supervised by Prof. Dr. Rémi Bazillier (CES, UP1 and CNRS) and Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Löwenstein (IEE and RUB).
