Katja is a development economist with a strong interest in institutionalism and experience in Asian and African countries. She is professor for Economics, in particular Economic and Social Development at Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (BRSU) and Director of the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE). She is also the Deputy President of the European Association for Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI). Her main research interests are centered on the political economy of social protection or health systems reforms, and on the interaction between technological & institutional change with a specific focus on the energy-health-nexus. Lately, also motivated by own experiences, Katja is also working on understanding actors' preferences in (international) research-practice collaborations.
