Prof. Markus Kaltenborn, member of the IEE directory board, and IEE corresponding member Prof. Katja Bender have jointly edited a book which combines insights from economics, law, philosophy, political science, and sociology on the functioning of social protection systems in diverse global contexts.
"Global Social Protection - Institutional Perspectives" provides a multidisciplinary institutional approach to social protection. The different contributions examine the role of institutions in the effective functioning of social protection systems and explore the factors driving or hindering institutional change. The book presents a holistic understanding of the field Global Social Protection and addresses students of comparative social policy or development studies as well as practitioners and policy-makers.
The fifth chapter of the edited volume was authored by Prof. Markus Kaltenborn and the IEE's ADAPTED fellows Irene Among and Natalia Zakharchenko and addresses the legal framework of institutional change in social protection systems.
