ADAPTED fellow and Early Stage Researcher Guido Maschhaupt will be convening a panel together with Dr. Hangala Siachiwena at the EADI/IOB 2026 General Conference "Shaping Sustainable Futures: Global Challenges, (G)local Solutions?"

For their panel "Finding the Democratic Dividend: Political Accountability and Citizen-State Relations in Africa" both conveners are currently seeking contributions that interrogate whether and which politicians’ actions enhance democratic accountability; whether they empower citizens or create dependency; and how these dynamics vary across contexts. Contributions from diverse disciplinary perspectives and methodological approaches are welcome. You can find furher information on the panel and the link to submit your abstract here. The EADI/IOB General Conference brings together researchers, policy makers and policy shapers, practitioners and students in the field of development research and development policy. Former and current PhD students of the IEE will also be attending the 2026 General Conference and convene a roundtable.
