The collaboration project between the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy (IEE), Ruhr-University of Bochum, the Institute of Political Sciences (IfP), the University of Duisburg-Essen and the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF), University of Duisburg-Essen, formerly known as UAMR Graduate Centre for Development Studies has been renamed UA Ruhr Graduate Centre for Development Studies. This change had to happen due to the renaming of its umbrella institution: the Universitäts-Allianz Metropole Ruhr (UAMR) is now called UA Ruhr.

UA Ruhr joint activities
The joint activities in the field of education in development studies at the PhD level include
- a Seminar on „Institutional Analysis in Political Sciences" by Prof. Hartmann offered in the PhD IDS this September,
- a PhD workshop on "Qualitative Research Methods" by Prof. Debiel on November 6th and 7th at the Duisburg campus, which is organised for PhD students from all three UA Ruhr GC institutions.
Moreover, at the Master level, the following courses are available for all Master students of the three cooperating institutions in this Winter Term:
- "Economic Tutorial" taught by Gabriele Bäcker at the IEE,
- "Theories of Development and Underdevelopment: Economic Perspectives" taught by Wilhelm Löwenstein at the IEE,
- "Democracy and Governance" offered by Prof. Faust in Duisburg.
