From Saturday onwards the IEE welcomes the Iliso Youth Choir from Khayelitsha, Cape Town in Bochum. The IEE wants to invite a broad audience to enjoy the powerful music, to get an impression of social work in a township and of the motivation behind such important work.
In cooperation with the Deutsch Afrika Ruhr Forum (DARF e.V.), an extensive programme has been put together entitled 'Voices and perspectives from the township: Iliso Care Society'. The project strives to enhance inter-cultural exchanges between the global north and south. The timing of their trip to Germany matches perfectly with several cultural highlights in Bochum: intercultural week, Festival n.a.t.u.r., Day of Song, and many more. Iliso will be on stage at all three events.
A project like this would be impossible without generous funding. We would like to say thank you to the Goethe Institut e. V., Stiftung für Umwelt und Entwicklung NRW, International Office, AStA RUB and AKAFÖ. Furthermore, donations for the Iliso Care Society in Cape Town are possible at all events and are most welcome.
