The application period for the MADM Bochum intake 2024-26 has started in January 2023. Details are provided in the ‘How to apply’ section MADM Bochum.
Since mid-2000, the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy offers an international English-language Master Programme in Development Management at the Ruhr-University in Bochum. Since May 2002, the programme has also been offered at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa; originally as part of the DAAD initiative "German Programmes of Study Abroad" and now as part of the DAAD funded "South African - German Centre for Development Research". The duration of each programme cycle is three semesters (18 months). For each intake, around 30 students are accepted.

On 5 September 2022, the new Bochum group of MA in Development Management students started their studies. For the formal opening and the opening of the 2022 summer school the students of the MADM at UWC also arrived at the IEE.
During the next 4 weeks both groups will follow a Summer School programme which includes coursework in Statistical Methods, a trip to Berlin, a weekend seminar Intercultural Communication and Teambuilding, and sessions with external experts representing German organisations working in the field of development cooperation.
The MA in Development Management at Ruhr University Bochum is one of the programmes included in the recently published extraordinary DAAD call for scholarship applications. The Master Scholarship Programme for students from the Ukraine as well as from countries of the DAC list fleeing the war in Ukraine to continue/complete their studies in Development-Related Postgraduate Courses is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Former IEE student Gerald Ahabwe, MADM Alumnus of 2009, was installed as President of the Phd Fellows at Makerere University (Pf@Mak) last week.
